In a year when sustainability is the buzzword for supply chains it was prophetic that Sky were the Overall Winner at the Supply Chain Excellence Awards 2019. As winners of The Ethical Supply Chain Award Sky demonstrated it was a business that had ethical, social and environmental awareness fused into the very fabric of its cultural DNA, from climate change to human rights, across every aspect of its supply chain.

Those attending Day Two of the Supply Chain Conference 2020 will be able to hear from Giles Harvey, group supply chain director at Sky, to discover how it has implemented such policies throughout the organisation.

Harvey is followed by the winner of the Customer Service Award, Heineken, where its on-trade customer operations manager Paula Masterson, talks about the processes and ways to improve customer care.

The morning of Day Two will be punctuated by a table top discussion between delegates discussing common industry issues including robotics and automation; horizontal collaboration; inventory management and ethical supply chains.

Alfred Muthunathan, chief information officer at CPL Aromas will then look at how the fragrance house is creating a digital supply chain to improve efficiencies – including how it improves service, cost, agility and inventory levels – while Beata Wojna, aviation End-2-End lead at Shell will address its approach to robotics process automation frameworks.

While the UK may have left the European Union, the shape of its trading relationship with its largest trading partner after the 1 January 2021 is uncertain. Duncan Buchanan, policy director at the Road Haulage Association will guide delegates through the realities of Brexit.

Vinesh Patel, senior manager – mobile UK – at Sky, will look at what it takes to make the last mile profitable and improve customer satisfaction levels while Eirini Etoimou, group procurement manager at Odeon & UCI Cinemas will address the financial and organisational impact of sustainability .

Closing Day Two will be Tony Bury, group supply chain director, at dairy giant Lactalis McLelland will discuss the concept of Cost-to-Serve, looking at how to achieve profitability, transparency and visibility, as well as suggesting ways to maintain costs to achieve the needs of customers.

Bury is followed by Dr Jonathan Gorst of Sheffield Hallam University comparing bricks and mortar stores to e-commerce retailers and analysis what impact it has had on the retail and supply chain industry.
